EDITION 00 · WELCOME LETTER ·
Welcome to The Change Companion
A thoughtful editorial letter for the middle chapters of life.

By Russell Betts
A Note From Russell
Over the past year, I've had the privilege of sitting with people who are navigating some of the most complex seasons of their lives: midlife transitions, identity shifts, relational changes, and the quiet, internal recalibrations that happen when life asks us to become someone new.
In those conversations, one truth keeps surfacing:
Change is never just emotional.
It's never just relational.
And it's never just physiological.
It's all of it, layered, intertwined, and often arriving faster than we feel ready for.
That's why I'm launching The Change Companion.
This newsletter is a place where we can explore the middle chapters with a little more clarity, a little more steadiness, and a little more honesty about what's actually happening beneath the surface.
What This Newsletter Is
A bi-weekly editorial letter that looks at midlife change through three lenses:
Body:
the physiological shifts that shape our energy, mood, and resilience
Mind:
the cognitive and emotional patterns that emerge during transition
Identity:
the deeper questions of meaning, direction, and becoming
Sometimes we'll explore emotional clarity. Sometimes we'll explore mineral health or hormonal changes. Sometimes we'll look at relationships, bandwidth, or the psychology of transition.
Always through the Connected Through Change lens.
What This Newsletter Is Not
It's not a promotional channel.
It's not a content dump.
It's not a repeat of the LinkedIn newsletter.
It's a companion, a steady voice in the background, for the moments when life feels like too much, too fast, or too unfamiliar.
What's Coming Next
This Friday, we'll begin with a perspective from mineral-health educator Rick Fischer. His work offers a way to consider how physiology can shape emotional bandwidth during midlife transitions.
It's an example of what The Change Companion is designed to do: bring the emotional, relational, and biological layers of change into one conversation.
Thanks for reading.

Something to Try
Notice one change in your energy, thinking, or sense of self. Consider how the three lenses—Body, Mind, and Identity—might each help you understand it.
One Question
Which part of this season needs more understanding rather than more effort?
